Tuesday February 12	Band Booster Board Meeting in the Band Room. 6 p.m.
Wednesday February 13	Candy Sale Turn In (Return all money and unsold items)
Friday February 15	Deadline to pay second payment of $75 for St. Augustine trip. This could have been done through candy sale or parents’ donation.
Thursday February 21	Final run-through of all Woodwind solos for Evaluation on Sat.
Friday February 22	Final run-through of all Brass & Percussion solos for Evaluation on Sat.
Saturday February 23	Solo Evaluation (Mandatory for all Highlander Band students) This is a major test grade reflecting 7 weeks of work. 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at DHMS. Sign up for your 10 minute performance slot (plus 20-30 minute warm up). Attire for this evaluation is red band t-shirt and something nice to match.

Saturday March 1	Zephyrhills Highland Games. Competition for the Pipe Band.
Tuesday March 11	Band Booster Board Meeting in the Band Room. 6 p.m.
Wednesday March 26	Deadline to pay for final $70 of St. Augustine trip. This could have been done through candy sale or parents’ donation.
	April
Saturday April 5	Dunedin Highland Tattoo Rehearsal at Dunedin High School and performance that night. This is a mandatory performance for the Highlander Band, Pipe Band, and Color Guard. This is the qualifier for the St. Augustine Performance. Specific times TBA.
Sunday April 6	National Day of Rejoicing
Tuesday April 8	Band Booster Board Meeting in the Band Room. 6 p.m.
Saturday April 12	Dunedin Highland Games. Final competition for the Pipe Band.
Tuesday April 29	Highlander Band after school rehearsal. Mandatory and graded. Preparation for Saturday’s Concert Band Evaluation. 4:15 – 5:30 p.m.

Saturday May 3	Concert Band Evaluation Highlander Band. Mandatory & Graded. 7:00 a.m. - Meet at DHMS Band Room – Dress & load. 7:45 a.m. - Leave DHMS for the University of Tampa 8:15 a.m. - Arrive and unload at the Univ. of Tampa 8:30 a.m. - Warm up 9:00 a.m. - Perform for evaluation 9:45 a.m. - Change into play clothes (band t-shirt required – shorts & tennis shoes suggested) 10:30 a.m. - Leave the Univ. of Tampa for Busch Gardens 7:00 p.m. - Leave Busch Gardens for DHMS 7:30 p.m. - Arrive at DHMS – PUT EVERYTHING AWAY
Tuesday May 13	Band Booster Board Meeting in the Band Room. 6 p.m. Band Booster General Meeting (ALL BAND PARENTS) 7 p.m.
Tuesday May 27	DHMS Spring Band Concert for ALL band students and Color Guard 6:00 p.m. All students arrive for uniforming, tuning, & seating. 7:00 p.m. Concert begins This is mandatory and graded – reflecting all that the students have learned in the first semester.
Wednesday May 28	Beginners and Cadet Band begin handing in band equipment and complete Contracts.
Saturday May 31	St. Augustine Trip. Highlander Band, Pipe Band and Color Guard. Times TBA. Returning late Sunday, June 1st.
	June
Monday June 2	Highlander Band, Color Guard, Pipe Band and Cadet students that performed in St. Augustine turn in all band equipment and complete contracts.

	August
Monday August 20	Pipe Band performances: Meet in DHMS band room @ 4 p.m. Walk over to Dunedin Elementary @ 4:30 p.m. Perform @ Dunedin Elem. @ 5:00 p.m. Return to DHMS @ 5:30 p.m. Perform @ DHMS Sixth Grade Open House at 6:30 p.m. Put instruments & uniforms away – finished by 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday August 21	First day of school: Take home band handbook, insurance info, contract for Uniform (Highlander Band only), band calendar Go over info with your family (especially dates)
Wednesday August 22	Classroom rules covered with all classes (see handbook for copy) Highlander Band volunteers requested for Beginning Band Booster meeting on Tuesday, August 28 at 7 p.m. (Band t-shirts and jeans)
Friday August 24	All Cadet and Highlander Band students playing in class today. All will need their instruments in class today. Practice Sheets begin today; due every other Friday the first being due in class on Fri., Sept. 7th.
Monday August 27	Chair auditions begin for Cadet and Highlander Band students.
Tuesday August 28	Beginning Band Parent Booster Meeting - 7 p.m. in DHMS band room. (Executive Board @ 6 p.m.) Highlander Band volunteer ensemble meets @ 6:30 p.m.-- performs for Beginning Band parents & students @ 7 p.m.
Thursday August 30	Cadet and Highlander Band Parent Booster Meeting - 7 PM in DHMS band room. Trips & performances to be discussed as well as officer elections.
	September
Monday September 3	Drum Major training (required to try out for Highlander Band Drum Major) 4:15 PM – 5:30 PM @ DHMS. Wear shorts and tennis shoes.
Tuesday September	4 Drum Major training follow up (not necessary if you attended the Monday training) 4:15 PM – 5:30 PM @ DHMS. Wear shorts and tennis shoes. *First class for Pipe Band students 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM @ DHMS. (These classes continue each Tues. & Thurs. throughout the year.)

Tuesday September 11	Band Booster Executive Board meeting – 6:00 PM @ DHMS Color Guard training #2 (required to try out for Color Guard) 4:15 – 5:30 PM @ DHMS. Wear shorts and tennis shoes.
Friday September 14	Drum Major try outs @ DHMS. 4:15 PM – 5:30 PM Wear shorts.
Saturday September 15	Highlander Band Uniform Fittings 9:00 AM – Noon Girls (Wear shorts) 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM Boys Bring your checkbook – uniform rent may be paid and Band t-shirts may be purchased at that time.
Monday September 17	Officer elections in all classes (Band Captain & Sergeant)
Wednesday September 19	Color Guard training #3 (required to try out for Color Guard) 4:15 – 5:30 PM @ DHMS. Wear shorts and tennis shoes.
Friday September 21	Deadline to turn in: Calendar Slips (for a grade), First Semester School Instrument Rent, Pipe Band / Highlander Band Uniform Rent, Proof of Insurance. First Practice Sheet due for Beginners; 2nd for Cadet & Highlander.
Tuesday September 25	Color Guard training #4 (required to try out for Color Guard) 4:15 – 5:30 PM @ DHMS. Wear shorts and tennis shoes.
Wednesday September 26	Color Guard tryouts @ DHMS. 4:15 PM – 6:00 PM Wear shorts and tennis shoes. *** Note: Color Guard members selected at this try out will meet every Wed. from now on from 4:15 – 5:30 PM

Wednesday October 3	Color Guard Fittings & First rehearsal. Wear shorts and tennis shoes.
Tuesday October 9	General Band Booster Meeting - 7 PM in DHMS band room. All Band parents encouraged to attend (Executive Board @ 6 PM)
Friday October 26	Wreath Sale begins (Take info home to parents) Tag Day 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM In uniform.

Saturday December 8	Pipe Band and Color Guard march in Dunedin Winter Parade: 9 a.m. - Meet at DHMS band room for uniforming. 10 a.m. - Parents deliver students to Blue Jays Stadium/Knology Park to line up for parade (corner of Beltrees & Douglas Aves). 11 a.m. - Parade begins and moves north to Pioneer Park (Main St in Dunedin) Noon - Perform the concert in the park with the Highlander Band on the main stage at Pioneer Park 1 p.m. - All return to DHMS band room to put uniforms and equipment away. Highlander Band annual concert in the park: 9 a.m. - Meet at DHMS band room for uniforming. 11:30 a.m. - Assemble on the main stage for noon performance. Noon - Concert in the park with Pipe Band and Color Guard on the main stage at Pioneer Park 1 p.m. - All return to DHMS band room to put uniforms and equipment away “Tuba Christmas” 7:30 PM at the Pier in St. Petersburg. Rehearsal time and location T.B.A. (All Highlander level Baritone and Tuba players eligible to participate. Go to www.tubachristmas.com for information)
