Vice - President - Lead general parent booster meetings if president not available, all other duties of the president; Create sub-committees to lead and help with events

Secretary – Record minutes from all meetings – both general parent and executive meetings. Submit them for an annual “audit review” required by Pinellas County, due each June 30th. Work with Treasurer to complete required government forms and documentation.

Treasurer – This is the most time-intensive position of all 4 officer positions. Monthly bank reconciliations, NSF letter follow up, collection of funds for the band boosters (reed sales, music book sales, annual instruction fees) and reconciliations of student accounts, counting cash for tag day collections, submitting IRS form 990 each year. Collect donation money at all school concerts. Gather all documents for the Pinellas county audit review by June 30th each year.

Other Positions

Volunteer coordinator – enlist volunteers for events, call those volunteers who signed up, turn in lists of volunteer hours to the DHMS school volunteer person

Uniform coordinator – Organize uniform room, measure and fit each student for the proper uniform, keep inventory of uniform parts and assigned part numbers, and come and help when new students arrive and need uniforms quickly.

Web Manager – Maintain the information on the DHMS Band Booster web page. Upload calendars, photos and forward action items that are sent through the website email.

Color Guard coordinator – Work as a go-to person for information and updates for parades, Highland Games trips, concert performances, rehearsals and special events. Contact color guard parents via phone and email.

Pipe Band coordinator – The busiest season for this position begins January – June, when the highland games begin and the Dunedin Tattoo and Highland Games take place. Work as a go-to person for information and updates for all Pipe & Drum band events, including tag days, and be an assistant to Mr. Mason and Sandy Keith, Pipe Master.

Hospitality – Plan meals for just a few events that routinely occur throughout the school year. There are 1 or 2 “Janitor thank you luncheons”, to show the band’s appreciation for our after-work hour events that require they stay late to clean up/lock and secure the property. Plan pizza parties for winter and spring tag days. Plan end of year picnic/parties if applicable. All food/drink purchases will be reimbursed by band booster account.

Historian – This position is a scrap booker’s delight! Maintain a physical and/or digital record of the band and color guard activities for the entire school year. This includes copies of programs, newspaper articles, photos, mementos from events. This will continue a tradition in place that has recorded the history of the DHMS bands for many years.

Corporate Sponsor Chairperson(s) – The band relies on donations to pay for the band assistant, the additional instructors who train the bagpipe players, color guards and drummers, and the numerous items needed to keep the band thriving. Fundraisers generate much of the needed funds, but if you are good at obtaining a corporate sponsor for the band, please let us know!

Highland Games Representatives – One or two representatives are needed to attend every HG meeting. Meetings lead to tasks to facilitate the events that directly benefit the DHMS band funds: Celtic Festival (November), Military Tattoo (March), Highland Games (April).

**8th grade parents High School Liaison(s) – For DHS-bound students especially, email band activity calendar updates to the DHMS band booster email (dhmsband@gmail.com) For any other high school attendee, any big- event updates are appreciated. Anyone can do this – you don’t even need to sign up.
